Drupal attributes are an object Drupal uses to pass HTML attributes to a page’s markup. They can be very useful to Drupal even if they are not always used by developers. For this reason, it is important that Drupal attributes are available on templates we work on, even if we are writing our own markup.

Other very useful utilities Drupal provides on most templates is title_prefix and title_suffix. These two variables allow contrib and custom modules to add extra functionality to your nodes in the way of contextual links. In fact, the Contextual Links module is the most popular use case for being able to edit content inline through title_prefix and title_suffix.
