DrupalCon Chicago 2011 Session Quick-hits and Impressions

This year's theme: Drupal goes commercial! I haven't been to a lot of Drupalcons but it is interesting to see the evolution of the Drupal community. Maybe in the past it was about making Drupal into a platform that can compete with the other players in this space and attacking marketshare dominated by other CMS-es, both free and commercial. The emphasis now is definitely on Drupal shops showcasing their enterprise-level services: hosting, platform/distributions, app-stores, software-as-a-service type offerings.

DrupalCon Chicago Day 3 Session Notes

The final day of DrupalCon Chicago is underway with Jared Spool's keynote about intuitive design (which he says is invisible, like air conditioning). One key session is on the radar today before departing for the airport: Workbench: Managing Content Management. Workbench is a new set of tools aimed at content management, and I am looking to compare the tools-based approach with the guidance provided in yesterday's administration session (focus on the people not the tools).

DrupalCon Chicago Day 1 Session Notes

Greetings from DrupalCon 2011 at the Sheraton in Downtown Chicago. Mediacurrent has several team members in attendance, and we have a company information table setup at booth 31 in the exhibit hall if you want to stop by to say hello.

I'll be keeping a log of highlights from the sessions I attend each day during the conference. After Dries' keynote this morning that reviewed Drupal 7 and outlined plans for Drupal 8 process, Tuesday is starting with an overview of the Media module, followed by sessions about client and project management.
