Hi Jeff - thanks for letting us get to know a bit more about you! Let's get started:

1. What’s your role at Mediacurrent, both internally and client-related?

As Mediacurrent’s Chief Operating Officer I’m responsible for a lot of what we do every day. I’m so proud of the team that we have built and all of the people I get to work with every day who are so much smarter than me.

2. Give us an idea of what professional path brought you here.

I started as the webmaster (back when such a job existed) in the second year of Major League Soccer’s existence and moved onto Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta for 11 years at CNN/Sports Illustrated and Turner Sports. I was actually one of Mediacurrent’s first clients through my role at Turner. It was from this post on drupal.org that I met Dave Terry and Paul Chason.

Along the way Bob Goldberg (MLS), Rhonda Lowry (CNN/SI) and Phil Sharpe (Turner) were amazing mentors to whom I owe any semblance of professional success I have enjoyed.

3. How did you first get involved with Drupal?

I volunteered for the LSU Alumni Association’s Atlanta Chapter and built a web site for them in Joomla originally and then moved it to Drupal. After seeing the power of Drupal, I introduced it on some small projects at Turner, eventually leading to the company-wide adoption of Drupal as a CMS.

4. Is there a go-to Drupal module that you like to incorporate whenever possible?

It’s in core now, but long ago Views was such a powerful, eye-opening tool for me, replacing things that we had done for draft trackers through some very complicated Perl scripts when I was at CNN/Sports Illustrated.

5. Do you have any recommended reading or books that you would suggest to others?

I quote things from this book probably too often for the directors on our team who have to hear me talk too much.

6. Any mobile apps that you use regularly?

Slack, to keep in touch with our distributed team.

7. What do you like to do in your spare time?

LSU Tiger Stadium, section 405, row 31 seats 25 & 26.

8. What do you like about Mediacurrent?

Working on a distributed team with flexibility for family life and working with good people. One of my favorite quotes from clients was when they said they hired us because “we seemed nicer” than the other agencies that did the bidding.

Awesome, thanks again for being apart of the Employee Spotlight series!
