April arrived in our lives and brought wind, sun and.. DrupalCon! And 15" of snow in my hometown of Keene, NH, but who's counting?
Client sponsored
- Michelle Cox opened an issue for Paragraph Panes to discuss nested Paragraphs and also worked to add an interface to the Redirect module for node forms to show the redirects currently pointing to it.
- Stephen Lucero worked on his YAML Content module to improve it for another client.
- I started looking into the Flysystem module suite and submitted some minor improvements to their documentation and to group them properly on the /admin/modules page.
Self-directed
- Dan Polant kept working on render caching for Views AJAX requests.
- Mark Shropshire and a number of contributors helped to get Guardr 8.x-1.0-alpha1 out the door.
- I spent a few days just outside Portland, Oregon with many great minds as we worked towards stable releases for the Panels ecosystem modules for Drupal 8 and plan for the future; from there I released Panelizer 8.x-3.0-beta2, which was the last release of Panelizer for Drupal 8.2, all subsequent work has gone towards the new 8.x-4.x branch which is compatible with the new layout system in Drupal 8.3.
- I also released Views 7.x-3.16, documented the way forward for Bean to migrate to D8, and did my usual fluttering around various issue queues helping out where I could.
Blog posts
- Bob Kepford joined Mark Casias for a Friday5 about command line tools you might find useful.
- Bob also provided further insights into his favorite text editor, this time explaining how to debug PHP with Vim.
- Mark Shropshire provided details on a number of security-themed podcasts, blogs and others he finds useful.
- Carie Fisher showed how to use a style guide to improve a website's accessibility.
- Donna Bungard shared some tips for writing blog posts.
- Bill Shaouy published the first post in a two-part series comparing Drupal to Adobe's proprietary CMS, Experience Manager.
Events
- DrupalCon North America was in Baltimore this year, and you could say that we had a "very good time" at DrupalCon.
- Matt Davis attended ng-conf 2017 and provided a recap with lots of interesting insights.
Until next time
With DrupalCon North America over we're now looking around the country at many smaller events to attend, and towards Vienna in September. We hope to see you around!
